Bordini is a south-facing MGA in the Neive commune, the central wine-producing municipality of the Barbaresco DOCG, at 200–270 metres on Tortonian blue-grey marl soils. The MGA’s position on the gently rolling hills that characterise the Neive landscape provides good sun exposure without the thermal concentration of more dramatically south-facing slopes, producing Nebbiolo of balanced aromatic character and reliable structural quality.
The wines from Bordini display the Neive style in its most approachable register: rose petal, dried cherry, wild herbs, and a light spice note on the nose; medium-weight tannins with good definition on the palate and a clean, persistent finish. The Tortonian soils provide the textural finesse and aromatic expressiveness that distinguish Barbaresco from Barolo, and Bordini’s balanced exposure ensures this character is delivered without the tannic severity of harder geological sites. The wines are typically ready after eight to ten years of bottle aging, at which point they show the leather, dried flower, and mineral complexity of mature Nebbiolo from well-sited terroir. Bordini is an honest Neive MGA — reliable, genuine, and offering fair value for those seeking to explore the commune’s lesser-known vineyard portfolio beyond the famous Santo Stefano.
