Ciocchini-Loschetto is a composite MGA in the Novello commune, combining the adjacent Ciocchini and Loschetto parcels that share similar southwest-facing aspects and mixed marl-and-sandstone soils at 360–430 metres above sea level. The consolidation of these two parcels under a single MGA name reflects the practical reality of Novello’s vineyard cartography, where individual plots are small and often complementary in character.

At these altitudes — among the highest in the entire Barolo zone — growing season temperatures are meaningfully lower than at comparable sites in La Morra or Serralunga, a difference that translates into wine of exceptional freshness and aromatic precision. The mixed marl-and-sandstone soils add mineral structure and prevent over-richness. Barolo from Ciocchini-Loschetto shows a crisp, mountain-herb aromatic character, red cherry and wild strawberry fruit, firm tannins with notable acid backbone, and a clean, lingering finish. The wines are genuine aging candidates: the high acidity and fine tannic structure provide the framework for ten to twenty years of development, during which the wines add complexity without losing the freshness that is Novello’s defining contribution to the appellation.
