Faset occupies south-facing terrain at the boundary between the Barbaresco and Treiso communes, at 200–260 metres on Tortonian blue-grey marl soils — the geological formation that characterises the southern and western portions of the Barbaresco DOCG zone. The site’s boundary position gives it a dual identity in the appellation’s geography, but the wines produced here are consistently Barbaresco in character: aromatic, medium-bodied, and textured with the finesse that the Tortonian terroir delivers.

Wines from Faset show rose petal, red cherry, and dried herb on the nose, with a mid-weight palate of silky tannins, good natural acidity, and a clean, persistent finish that benefits from eight to twelve years of bottle aging. The altitude, somewhat higher than the valley-floor Barbaresco sites, introduces a mineral freshness that lifts the fruit and adds definition to the finish. Faset is not a prominent name on the international Barbaresco stage, but it is a vineyard of reliable quality and clear site-specificity — a mid-register MGA that illustrates the commune’s capacity to produce elegant, food-friendly Nebbiolo with the additional mineral dimension that comes from its elevated, borderland position. For those building a complete picture of the Barbaresco appellation, Faset is a rewarding and revealing discovery.
