2024 Joaquin “Dall’Isola” Campania Bianco

I have reviewed one wine from Joaquin: the 2024 Joaquin “Dall’Isola” Campania Bianco (91 points).
Joaquin is the work of Raffaele Pagano in Irpinia, the high inland province of Campania where Fiano, Greco and Aglianico reach their most complete expression. Pagano built the estate by seeking out old and often forgotten parcels, farming them by hand and vinifying with a patience that shows in wines of unusual depth and length. Across the range the signature is consistent: texture, salinity and a refusal to chase easy fruit.
Alongside the Irpinian wines sits a rarity: “Dall’Isola”, a white from the island of Capri, a place that makes almost no wine at all. Made from Falanghina and Greco in tiny quantities, it captures the essence of the island, salty, citrusy and full of wild Mediterranean herbs, the kind of white you dream of drinking on a boat overlooking the sea, and a true unicorn among Italian wines.
