2024 Medici Ermete Concerto Reggiano Lambrusco

I have reviewed one wine from Medici Ermete: the 2024 Medici Ermete Concerto Reggiano Lambrusco (94 points).
Medici Ermete changed the reputation of Lambrusco. Before it, the region was known for sweet, industrial fizz, but the Medici family believed in dry, single-vineyard Lambrusco. By severely restricting yields and focusing on the Reggiano terroir, it proved that Lambrusco belongs on the finest tables.
The flagship, “Concerto”, first made in 1993, was the first single-vineyard vintage Lambrusco Salamino and remains an icon and a game-changer. It pours ruby with a lively violet froth and smells of fresh strawberries, tart cherries and wild raspberries. Crisp, vibrant and bone dry, with a light tannic grip, it is ridiculously food-friendly, built to cut through the rich charcuterie and pasta of the region, from prosciutto to lasagne and tagliatelle al ragù.
