Margheria is inextricably linked with Massolino, the Serralunga d’Alba estate that has produced single-vineyard Barolo from this southwest-facing MGA for decades, establishing it as one of the commune’s most respected and consistently quality-driven sites. At 300–370 metres on Helvetian sandstone soils — the compact, mineral-rich geology that makes Serralunga Barolo the most demanding and long-lived in the zone — Margheria produces Nebbiolo of formidable structure and precision.

The wines carry the unmistakable Serralunga signature: iron, liquorice, tar, and dark cherry on the nose; dense, firmly structured tannins on the palate with excellent backbone and a long, mineral finish that demands time to reveal its full complexity. Massolino ages their Margheria in large Slavonian oak botti in the traditional style, a winemaking approach that complements the site’s natural austerity and allows the wine to develop over fifteen to twenty-five years. This is not Barolo for the impatient. For collectors who understand that Serralunga’s great MGAs require commitment in return for revelation, Margheria offers exceptional consistency: a site that has rarely disappointed, and that produces in great vintages Barolo of unambiguous class.
