2022 Barbaresco – Vintage Report
The 2022 vintage in Barbaresco is a fascinating paradox. On paper, it was a year that should have produced “cooked,”
Albino Rocca features in one journal article on this site.
Albino Rocca is a benchmark family estate in Neive, at the heart of the Barbaresco denomination. Founded by Albino Rocca in the 1970s and now guided by his daughters Daniela and Monica, the winery has earned a reputation for producing some of the most precise and elegant Barbarescos in the appellation. Their strength lies in a portfolio of single-vineyard cru bottlings—most notably from Ronchi and Loreto—that showcase the textural finesse and floral aromatic complexity unique to Neive’s calcareous soils. Winemaking is firmly traditional: long macerations and aging in large Slavonian oak botti that preserve the purity of the Nebbiolo grape without masking it under new wood. These are wines of quiet authority, refined tannins, and remarkable longevity.
