Frisino is a small, family-run estate in the province of Taranto, near the Ionian Sea, and part of Puglia’s modern renaissance. It is dedicated to Primitivo di Manduria, one of southern Italy’s most characterful and underrated appellations, working with old bush vines. The style avoids over-extraction and excessive oak, balancing the grape’s richness with freshness and drinkability. In a zone known for high-alcohol showpieces, Frisino makes honest, elegant Primitivo with a clear sense of place.
The estate also champions Puglia’s native whites. Verdeca was long misunderstood, relegated to bulk wine or used as a base for vermouth, but a new generation is showing that it can make some of southern Italy’s most energetic whites.
