Làmurà

I have reviewed two wines from Làmurà, all from the 2023 vintage, all from Sicilia. Scores range from 90 to 90, averaging 90; the highest is the 2023 Làmurà Grillo Sicilia (90 points).

Làmurà is a Sicilian range built on organic farming and everyday value, working with two of the island’s defining varieties: Grillo for the whites and Nero d’Avola for the reds. Sicily’s climate makes organic viticulture unusually practical, as dry summers and constant ventilation keep disease pressure low, and the wines reflect that ease. They are made for immediacy rather than ageing.

The Grillo, from one of Sicily’s star white grapes, is fresh and bright, with citrus, green apple, a hint of pineapple and a touch of Mediterranean herbs on a lively, refreshing finish. The Nero d’Avola, from the island’s most famous red grape, is smooth and juicy, with dark cherry, blackberry, warm spice and a subtle earthiness.

What sets them apart is the price, which puts genuinely organic Sicilian wine within everyday reach.
