Ostro Prosecco Rosé Extra Brut
The Veneto region produced this wine by blending traditional Prosecco grape Glera with Pinot Noir which adds red berry notes
I have reviewed one wine from Ostro: the Ostro Prosecco Rosé Extra Brut (90 points).
Ostro makes rosé Prosecco in the Veneto, a category formally recognised only in 2020, when the Prosecco DOC first allowed Pinot Nero to be added to Glera. That blend gives the wine its colour and its red-fruited lift over Glera’s orchard-fruit base.
Fermentation follows the Charmat method in pressurised tanks, preserving primary fruit and fine, delicate bubbles, and the wine is finished Extra Brut, drier than most Prosecco and more versatile at the table. The Prosecco Rosé offers crisp raspberry, wild strawberry, redcurrant and citrus with a subtle minerality and a dry, refreshing finish, perfect for summer days and a modern expression of a very old region.
