Tenuta Roveglia

I have reviewed five wines from Tenuta Roveglia, from the 2018 to 2025 vintages, across Lugana and Garda Merlot. Most are Turbiana. Scores range from 90 to 96, averaging 93; the highest is the 2023 Tenuta Roveglia “Limne” Lugana (96 points). Tenuta Roveglia also features in one journal article on this site.

Tenuta Roveglia is a historic name in the Lugana DOC, on the southern shores of Lake Garda. The property, a former Lombard farmstead dating back to the 1400s, sits on the region’s prized clay soils, which give its Turbiana — Trebbiano di Lugana, genetically a Verdicchio — structure, a signature salty snap and real ageing potential.

Limne, named from the Greek word for lake, is the classic Lugana: citrus, green apple, ripe peach, almond and wet-stone minerality, zippy and creamy with a hint of salinity. It is a natural alternative for lovers of Sauvignon Blanc, with similar vibrancy and softer acidity, and always one of the best values in Italian white wine.

Vigne di Catullo, the Riserva, comes from old vines and ages on its lees for a long time, gaining richness while keeping Lugana’s freshness: round and velvety, with lemon curd, peach, toasted nuts and a long mineral finish, capable of evolving for a decade. The estate also shows the lake’s red side with a polished Garda Merlot, helped by Garda’s cooling influence.
